Management Survey
A Management survey is a standard survey. Under regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 there is an explicit duty on owners and occupiers of non-domestic properties, who have maintenance and repair responsibilities to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) within the building, that could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy or maintenance activities. A management survey with the removal of representative samples, which are sent to a UKAS accredited laboratory where they are analysed to determine the presence of asbestos, helps the duty holder to fully comply with Regulation 4 CAR 2006.Refurbishment/Demolition
A Refurbishment/Demolition survey is needed before any refurbishment or demolition work is carried out. This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all ACM’s in the area where refurbishment work will take place or in the whole building if demolition is planned. Regulation 7 of CAR 2006 requires that all ACM’s as far as reasonably practicable should be removed prior to major refurbishment or demolition.
